WW1 German Veteran "Der Stahlhelm", WW2 SAAR Uniform with Matching Cap

Original WW1 German veteran's uniform. After WW1, this group of veterans were known as "Der Stahlhelm". It started out as a paramilitary, Non-Nazi political party, but when the Nazi party took over in the 1930s, Der Stahlhelm members "voluntarily" became part of the SA and the "Der Stahlhelm" was abolished by Hitler in 1935.

The veterans wore their WW1 uniforms throughout and the insignia they wore during WW2 was worn with their original WW1 insignia and medals. So this is a WW1 and WW2 veteran's uniform with both WW1 and WW2 insignia and it is completely accurate. The picture above is an original photo of members of the "Der Stahlhelm" taken in 1934 after their incorporation into the SA. There are a couple of small moth holes in the top of the hat but no other mothing, tears or rips in the tunic. A very rare uniform that goes in either a WW1 or WW2 collection.
